Please pardon us! We’re in the process of updating Mohala Media’s site.
Meanwhile, here’s a little history:
Mohala Media LLC was formed in May, 2006 to operate as the publishing arm of the Home School Learning Network, Inc.
When Lynn Rasmussen finished her book, Men Are Easy, Mohala Media LLC copublished with Greenleaf Book Group. It has since been translated into Romanian, Turkish, and Czech.
The day after the election of Barack Obama as President, Lynn came up with an idea for learning and published it in a blog, Lynn’s Big Idea.
On January 22, we submitted a proposal for an $850,000 SBIR (Small Business Innovative Research) contract. Over 15 people contributed to the educational research, tech development and commercialization plans. Hawaii’s High Technology Development Corporation supplied 10 hours with SBIR consultants Mark and Catherine Henry. ThanhTruc Nguyen, a phd researcher and eighth grade teacher, facilitated a relationship with the UH Laboratory School, a K-12 charter school on Oahu. We’ll hear if we get the contract in May.
On February 15 Sydney Smith from Coloriginals Maui came up with a great name: Icanology. Think “I can,” as in “I can count to 100,” and knowledge.
The focus of Mohala Media LLC is now on the research and development of Icanology. We are beginning the very first icans at Makawao School and the Paia Youth and Cultural Center.
On March 4, we will present Icanology at an Enterprise Forum hosted by David Fisher of Maui’s Small Business Development Center. We’ll share the stage with uBoost, an exciting Honolulu-based educational incentive company, and the Home School Learning Network.
